About Our Homework Club Program
Our homework club program is led and organized by our amazing team with the aim to uplift and support all African-Australian students attending Great Shepparton Secondary College. Although the aim of this program is to increase the literacy and numeracy skills of African-Australian students, the program also aims to support those students so that they reach their full potential while also engaging their families by providing them with different activities and workshops to learn about the education system and develop their independent skills.
Benefits:
- Provide a culturally safe space for students of African heritage while enabling them to improve their academic performance and build their confidence and self-esteem, while also building stronger relationships between them and their teachers,parents, guardians and carers.
- Students to learn and connect with local industries for employment and skill-sharing
- Promote cohesion within the Greater Shepparton Secondary College community and encourage more students to participate in their academic journey as well their their extracurricular activities
- To shape and guide African-Australian students so that they may become contributing members of a healthy and developing society
- Upskill African students at Greater Shepparton Secondary College and Networking African-Australians team to better respond to young people’s needs,including strengthening information sharing between African communities and the DET
- Food and drinks are provided
