About the Workshop

‘My Story, My Culture and Media’ is a unique workshop catered for African- Australian primary school students and those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, to freely express their stories and cultures through media. Furthermore, the aim of this workshop is to then encourage the students to start a media program within their own school community. This workshop will be facilitated by trained members from Networking African-Australians

What is the Mission?

To provide podcasting and media training to primary school students by encouraging them to share and express their stories and culture.

What are the key benefits of the workshop?

  • To create a safe space where young people of Colour and those from Culturally or Linguistically Diverse backgrounds can learn, exchange, and express themselves through podcast and media.
  • To freely express their own stories and cultures with others.
  • To connect students with their own cultures and roots.
  • To put into practice the theory and understanding of Podcast training and media skills.
  • To increase students’ confidence while strengthening their skills in research, writing, presenting, and collaborating amongst their peers.

The first part of this workshop will briefly focus on the theory aspect of podcast and media with the aim of strengthening participant’s knowledge and understanding.
